Built by AI: What It Actually Took to Get Claude.ai to Design a Website
This project started to answer a simple question: how far can everyday AI actually take you? Specifically, Claude.ai. in building a new corporate website for WWCS.
Through an intensive collaboration — though not exclusively with Claude.ai, since it doesn’t do everything — this site was designed, both structurally and graphically, using AI. It took an estimated 180 revisions, made up of individual page and theme changes, and around 65 hours of work. I was lazy and got AI to generate all code, and revisions.
Once the design, page count, and general functionality were agreed, Claude.ai built the WordPress theme reading for installation in our empty new website: page templates written in PHP, along with the ACF files controlling how each page is populated and configured.
Where it couldn’t help was images. Claude.ai can’t generate visuals from a text description, so Grok and ChatGPT stepped in for that piece. The only limit we actually hit along the way was the daily cap on the Claude.ai paid subscription.
